It connects to the USB port on your Notebook, Laptop or desktop computer. Simple to hook up; merely plug the scanner into any available USB port. Scanner is compatible with QuickBooks, Excel, MS Word and all other programs that will accept keyboard input since your computer treats all scanned barcodes as if you had typed in the information on the keyboard.  The Metrologic MS9544 has both manual trigger and auto triggered modes. Downloadable programming manual includes command barcodes allowing you to change the operating parameters of this very flexible unit. Change the Prefix or Suffix character, insert a carriage return or tab after scan or insert no suffix at all.
