WW1, Great War, Mint Royal Flying Corps Embroidered Breast Badge for British Officer’s. The Royal Flying Corps was the Air Arm of the British Army before and during the Great War. In the early part of the war the RFC supported the Army by artillery cooperation and photo reconnaissance. Gradually this led to aerial battles and strafing of enemy infantry and artillery. Eventually this led to the bombing of military airfields and German Industrial and transport facilities. This was an extremely small part of the British Army until it merged with the Royal Naval Air Service early in 1918 to form the Royal Air Force. This item is extremely RARE and only the second one of these I’ve been able to acquire in over 40 years of collecting European Militaria.
